The [Bar Milton-Parc] project has been years in the making. After a concerted effort from the Milton-Parc community to found a shared space, a team came together and proposed the following: a community space where all are welcome.
This cooperative aims to provide affordable meals through its solidarity meal program (in collaboration with the Milton Parc Food Bank), locally brewed drinks, and a transformative space to host all walks of life.

A co-operative is a type of business where ownership and control are in the hands of the members who use it. Co-operatives offer a different way of doing business that prioritizes the well-being of its members and the community. It promotes democratic engagement and community sovereignty by ensuring that the business serves the interests of the community, its users, and its workers.
BMP Co-op is a Solidarity Cooperative, which means that the membership is composed of three distinct membership categories: user-members, worker-members, and support or community-members. Each category of membership is designed to enable a diversity of needs to be represented in the governance of the Co-op. The Solidarity Cooperative model provides community members the opportunity to play an active role in shaping the business, to access quality services and products, and to support a fairer and more equitable economic model.
Coop BMP aims to be an inclusive space where people can come together to socialize, enjoy good food and drinks, and build relationships. The atmosphere of the space will be cozy, comfortable, and friendly, all whilst remaining community oriented and reflective of the radical political history of the Milton Parc neighborhood.
We will have cozy corners for studying; larger tables for meetings and dinners; lots of plants and soft lighting, and community content of the activism Milton Parc is famous for. The space will transform from day to night to accommodate afternoon coffee drinkers as well as open mic nights, local musicians, and dance parties. With a focus on upcycling materials, prioritizing warm and natural light, plants and greenery, and featured local art and decor, BMP Co-op will be a vibrant and community centered space that is accessible to all.
BMP Co-op currently has to undergo extensive renovations to update the kitchen and bathrooms so as to accommodate our solidarity meal program and create more accessible bathrooms. The renovations are currently planned for the summer, and we aim to be fully open by Fall 2023. However, you can expect a softer opening this Spring without a fully operational kitchen, but complete with a stocked bar and espresso drinks to go.
We review all feedback with care, we would love to hear from you.
