Accessibility

Cooperative Bar Milton Parc aspires to be as accessible as possible, within our means, as much in our bar space as in our events. Universal accessibility isn't just a checklist, it's a constant process for us. We welcome with great interest and appreciation all comments, criticisms and suggestions in this regard.

The atmosphere and accessibility of the cooperative may vary according to the time of day and events organized. We endeavour to communicate as much information as possible in advance, and encourage those organizing events in the space to do the same.

Wheelchair Accessibility

Our space is wheelchair accessible! There are no exterior steps or obstructions, which permits easy access with a wheelchair. Please do not hesitate to let staff know if you require assistance getting inside or exiting the cooperative. There is one elevated surface in the cooperative (stage area), which is one step of approx. 10cm. The bar furniture consists primarily of low tables (~80cm height) and chairs (~48cm height). We also have a wheelchair accessible washroom available. There are some imperfections in the floor (fissures and cracks) which can impair movement.

During the winter, we try to clear and salt the entrance as best we can, but the street may still be a little slippery. We unfortunately do not have seating available outside in our entrance area and we must ask that people visiting the Cooperative refrain from sitting on the front steps of our surrounding neighbours.

Movement through the space (circulation)

The front door has a width of 90cm as well as the second door after the vestibule (both these doors can be propped open). The bar furniture typically allows for passage through the main bar area through a 122cm walkway. There is a diagonal turn of 85cm to access the hallway leading to the washrooms. The hallway leading to the washroom is of a width of 108cm. The bathroom doorway for the accessible washroom has a width of 85cm.

We should also point out that when there are a lot of people in the cooperative, for example during a busy event, circulation in the space may be more difficult. Event information is always available online via our Facebook or Instagram, you are also always welcome to check in with us via email or social media to see if anything is going on a specific day.

We always make sure there are as many chairs available as possible. Please let staff know if you require seating and we will find you a chair!

Parking and Transit

Unfortunately, we do not have specific parking reserved for our business.

Bus stops for STM buses number 80, 129, 144, 480, 365, & 360 are all located less than 100m from the Cooperative. All these stops are wheelchair accessible.

Safety

We are accredited by Order an Angelot, which is a training protocol aimed at combating sexual harassment and violence in nightlife spaces. An “Angelot” is a fake cocktail that anyone can order to subtly ask for help, without having to explain themselves. If you feel unsafe or unsure about a situation, don’t hesitate to approach our staff at any point in time. See more

Gender Neutral Washrooms

We have four gender neutral single stall washrooms (full doors) with a shared sink space.  Our wheelchair accessible washroom is equipped with an accessible sink as well as a grab bar next to the toilet. We have safer sex products as well as menstrual products available that you are welcome to take as you need.

Children

Due to the specifics of our bar permit and liquor license, persons under the age of 18 are not permitted inside Cooperative Bar Milton Parc. (This excludes private rentals).

Animals

Unfortunately, due to Quebec Health and Safety codes, we do not allow pets or animals of any kind in our space, except for registered service dogs.
